It just takes one obedient person to start a movement for Jesus. Learn more or get involved at hubs.la/Q01HRMCS0
The Torres Strait Islands are comprised of at least 274 small islands on 16 of which are populated by a total of roughly 4,500 people. They are located in the waterway between the far northern portion of Australia and Papua New Guinea, known as the Torres Strait. Most of the islands are a part of Queensland, Australia, but a few belong to New Guinea including the provincial capital of Daru. In recent years, there has been growing discussion about the islands becoming independent.
,
The indigenous peoples of these islands are predominantly Melanesians, most culturally tied to the coastal people of Papua New Guinea. There are two indigenous languages spoken as well as Miriam Mir and Pidgin.

As each of us practitioners know, listening to God through the Holy Spirit is a critical element to any disciple making movement and therefore we have taught this concept many times in our own communities and around the world. It is a vital component to a 3/3 group, it is an element in the 1 hour prayer wheel, and it is important to any prayer walk.
.
Even so, it is highly beneficial if we press into this even harder during our personal prayer time and even throughout our daily activities. Because, what if the strength of our relationship with the Lord depended on it? Perhaps you have never thought of it that way. Think about the strongest relationships in your life. There is no doubt that those relationships have been forged in part through lots of time in conversation. It is through both speaking and listening that your relationships have grown strong. Not surprisingly, the same is true of our relationship with the Lord.
.
One thing is certain, God desires to speak to us even more than we desire to listen to him. Throughout the scriptures, God “speaks” to his people in a variety of ways...
• a particular scripture coming to mind (Acts 1:20; Acts 13:16)
• a picture or vision (Acts 10:11-17; Acts 16:9-10)
• a dream (Daniel 4:4-17; Daniel 7:1-14)
• an interpretation of a dream or vision (Daniel 4:18-27; Daniel 7:15-27)
• a picture or impression of a word (Acts 10:3)
• a sensation or pain in one’s body (Acts 9:8-9)
• a spiritual song (Acts 16:25; Ephesians 5:19)
• divinely sent messengers or angels (Acts 1:9-11; Acts 8:26) (Philip is told to go south to Gaza—that’s all—but along the way he bumps into a seeker, and it’s obvious to Philip this is the
reason he was told to come.)
• signs and wonders (Luke 23:44-45; Acts 5:18-21; Acts 9:36-42; Acts 12:6-11)
• restriction of movement and speech (Acts 16:6-8)
.
God is not limited in His ability to “speak” to us. He has even been known to use an ass (Numbers 22:21-39). The question is... “Are we willing and ready to listen?” Learn more at hubs.la/Q01GNSYC0
An update from Australia:
.
"Pray for one of our brothers here. He is a true evangelist and having started his own business continually takes the opportunity to make time to share with many. Recently he connected with a man who has stage 4 Cancer. He was able to share the complete gospel including the return of Jesus and challenged this man with 'what will you do with the remainder of your earthly life' - the man left encouraged to follow Messiah and to share the gospel of the Kingdom with his family."

Please continue to pray for this work across Oceania and for doors to be open to new areas as well. Visit hubs.la/Q01Gzkxx0 for more info.
Wallis and Futuna is considered a French island collectivity with a total population of about 12,000. It is made up of three volcanic tropical islands and a number of smaller islets. In 1888, the islands were put under the authority of the French Colony of New Caledonia. In 1959, the inhabitants voted to become a separate French overseas territory and then in 2003 their status was changed to the current overseas collectivity.
.
Nearly 99% of the population identify as Catholic, but the vast majority could be considered Catholic only by culture. There are thought to be only 150 evangelicals on the islands, so there is an immense need and opportunity to share the Gospel.
.
To date, the Lord has not yet supplied a person of peace that would enable Biglife to provide disciple making movement training within this place. Please join us in praying for the Lord’s provision of this person(s). A brother in New Zealand has some contacts in New Caledonia, so we are hopeful that the New Caledonia connections may eventually open doors into Wallis and Futuna. Learn more at hubs.la/Q01FRnD00
